birthday party

We had a birthday party for Michael Monday. Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate. The plan was of course, to be outside, but the rain brought us indoors. If you have seen our house, you know it's not the best for entertaining a large group. Nonetheless, we had over 30 adults and 14 kids in there! Here are a few pictures...

play group

We're minus a few kids in these pictures (Charlie, Blair, Jack, Luke M, Hudson, Libby, John Payne and Elliotte). Okay, that's more than a few. It's hard to get everyone together these days!

Luke, Riley, Lily, John Thomas
We love how all the little ones are so quiet and content to sit. Memories of days gone by...

Mother's Day

Here are the sweet boys that gave me a reason to celebrate on Mother's Day...

And I have to say thanks to my husband for scheduling a massage for me and coming home from work early to keep the kids! Good gift, honey!

splish splash... well, kinda

Luke was 7 months yesterday and had his first official bath in the tub. He just sat there even though toys were all around and wasn't quite sure what to do. He loves getting wrapped up in his towel. Just a glimpse of the smiles I get everyday!!

moving creatures

Jacob loves the outdoors... squirrels, bunnies, birds, ants (okay anything moving). He has been helping me dig up weeds recently and has a new love for worms! We found lots this morning and he decided to take them for a ride (to Austrailia) in his dump trunk. My parents just got back last night from Austrailia and he wanted me to "take a smile" of it. This boy know how to get dirty! Look closely for the little wiggly worms...

married with children

Okay, so those of you who have kids may find this humorous (and thankful) and those of you without may find it insightful...
Michael is on an CLC overnight, so I get the boys in bed by 8 and my lights are off at 8:45! A good night's sleep ahead! What was I thinking? I was awoken at 12:40 by sweet Jacob crying (said he wanted Elmo). Then I walked out, crying some more (wanted Bob the Builder), then again (wanting Tigger). I was in and out of his room from about 12:40 to 1:30, then I decided something was seriously not right. So, I got him out of bed and rocked him a little to settle him down. I asked him if something was hurting- He told me his ear hurt. I gave him some Motrin, but since it was 1:30am at this point, I obviously wasn't thinking clearly to remember that Jacob has a weak stomach. So about 30 minutes later, he's still not sleeping, so I bring him into my room where he throws up all over the bed, his pillow, his pajamas. So at 2am, Jacob is walking around the house (diaper only becuase we're out of clean pajamas) and I'm doing a load of laundry. Luke manages to stay asleep - thank goodness! Finally Jacob is back to sleep around 2:30. I get back to sleep around 3am sleeping on my quilt with a blanket becuase the linens are dirty... thinking about how optimistic I was about a really good night's sleep and then I remember that I am so thankful to have been holding my sweet boy.
